Flying can be a stressful experience for some, especially as more and more flights are delayed or cancelled. It’s important for us all to remember that while it can be annoying, your flight crew members in the air and on the ground deserve our respect. Their job is not just to provide in-flight service, but to ensure all of our safety throughout our flights and to handle those emergencies that may occur during a flight. It’s important to remember that giving respect, gets respect back in return and this can make all the difference in you having an enjoyable and stress-free flight. A little kindness does go a very long way as does a “thank you”.
1. Ignoring Safety Instructions
Not paying attention to the safety briefing or disregarding instructions can be frustrating for flight attendants who prioritize passenger safety.
2. Refusing to Turn Off Electronics
Not complying with requests to turn off electronic devices during takeoff and landing can be annoying and disrupt the flight.
3. Blocking the Aisle
Standing in the aisle, especially during boarding or meal service, can hinder the crew’s ability to perform their duties efficiently.
4. Complaining About Delays
While delays are frustrating, taking it out on flight attendants, who often have no control over the situation, can be disheartening for them.
5. Being Rude or Disrespectful
Speaking rudely or disrespectfully to flight attendants can create a negative atmosphere and make their job more difficult.
6. Ignoring Seatbelt Signs
Not fastening your seatbelt when the sign is on or getting up during turbulence can be both annoying and unsafe.
7. Requesting Unnecessary Items Repeatedly
Constantly asking for items or services that are not essential can overwhelm flight attendants and distract them from other important tasks.
8. Leaving Trash Everywhere
Leaving a mess, such as trash or food wrappers, for the flight attendants to clean up can be inconsiderate and add to their workload.
9. Using the Call Button Excessively
Pressing the call button frequently for non-urgent matters can be disruptive and prevent flight attendants from attending to other passengers in need.
10. Bringing Oversized Carry-Ons
Trying to bring oversized bags that don’t fit in the overhead bin can cause delays and frustration for both flight attendants and other passengers.
