Exploring Europe by train is one of the most enchanting and efficient ways to travel. With an extensive rail network connecting vibrant cities, charming villages, and breathtaking landscapes, train travel in Europe offers a perfect blend of convenience, comfort, and unforgettable experiences.
One of the greatest joys of European train travel is its accessibility. With high-speed trains like the Eurostar, TGV, and ICE zipping across countries, you can easily hop between iconic destinations like Paris, London, Rome, and Berlin in just a few hours.
Travelling by train isn’t just practical; it’s an experience in itself. From the plush comfort of first-class cabins to the budget-friendly and cozy second-class seats, European trains cater to every type of traveller. Unlike planes, which restrict movement, trains give you the freedom to stretch, stroll, or even enjoy a meal in the dining car.
With the convenience of rail passes like the Eurail or Interrail, you can enjoy unlimited travel across multiple countries, giving you the freedom to explore at your own pace. Train travel is family friendly and provides the space for children to not feel couped up or restricted, allowing for a more pleasant experience for them.

2025 marks the 200th anniversary of steam train travel!
On 27 September 1825, George Stephenson’s steam-powered Locomotion No. 1 made its inaugural historic journey between Shildon, Darlington, and Stockton, in the north of England, carrying hundreds of passengers to huge fanfare. This marked the start of a passenger transportation revolution which we are delighted to celebrate 200 years on!
The 1920s and 1930s were the golden age of steam train travel, a time when railways symbolized sophistication, innovation, and luxury. High-end trains like the Orient Express, the Flying Scotsman, and the 20th Century Limited offered passengers an experience that was as much about the journey as the destination. Opulent interiors, complete with polished wood panelling, plush upholstery, and glittering chandeliers, created a refined atmosphere. Gourmet dining cars served exquisite meals on fine china, accompanied by crisp linen and silverware, while attentive staff ensured every whim was met. For the affluent traveller, boarding such a train was a statement of prestige and privilege.
Today, stepping aboard a restored high-end steam train is like walking into a living museum, infused with modern-day glamour. The meticulous restoration of these trains ensures that every detail, from the brass fittings to the art deco designs, echoes the elegance of their heyday. Passengers are treated to an experience that captures the grandeur of the past while offering modern comforts. Reclining in a plush armchair by the window, sipping champagne as the countryside rolls by, you can’t help but feel like a movie star in a classic black-and-white film or television star from a show like Downton Abbey.
The combination of nostalgia, exclusivity, and elegance leaves passengers with an unforgettable sense of indulgence and escape. It’s not just a ride; it’s a celebration of the timeless art of travel.
